JUDY'S WORLD is a classy 9" rose bitone unusual form with a lighter rose pink watermark, light pink sepals and edges, and there is a pencil pattern on the sepals. Scapes are tall at 45" with 4-way branching and 19 buds. JUDY'S WORLD is a tetraploid from a cross of LOVE SONG X GIRLS CLUB and begins blooming in the mid to late season. It has hardy, dormant plant habit. Pod difficult but not impossible, I have used the pollen extensively and had not intended to introduce this one because it has a flaw where wind will occasionally separate a sepal from the bloom. But since it is the parent of this year's DREW HOO and PAMPERED GIRLS as well as other outstanding futures, I am registering the plant and offering it on orders over $1,000 because I believe it holds great potential and it rarely passes along the flaw to its progeny.
KIDS ON LEASHES is a sibling to GREAT GOLD HEIST and has the wonderful form of WIGGLY PIGGLY on a taller scape. LITTLE BIG EARS is a 4" cream yellow and pink blend with fine toothy edges. Throat is heavily pleated and cristated with raised midribs creating variable forms, extended blooms begin opening the previous day, Tetraploid, reblooms for all summer bloom. An evergreen from SPACECOAST TINY PERFECTION breeding. Cresting along the midribs and in the throat creates various cristate forms 100% of the time. Sepals are always narrow. 4" measurement is from the tips of the sepals. Petals are approximately 3" making it appear as a miniature flower. This is the only tetraploid cristate form miniature flower that I know of. Well balanced plants carry flowers just above the foliage.
LODY is a 9" rose bitone with a lighter rose watermark and a diamond dusted wide yellow throat. Sepals are edged in dark rose with their cascade form showing the unusual edges just right! Huge 9 1/2 "hot" rose-pink blooms have a lighter rose pink Munson type watermark and a fine white edge. Sepals quill and petals spatulate and crispate so LOUD GIRLS was registered as an unusual form. 32" scapes have 3-way branching and carry 17 buds. Unlike WEBSTER'S PINK WONDER which is pod infertile, LOUD GIRLS is easily fertile both ways. Blooms midseason and is a semi-evergreen. Tetraploid. Carries its beautiful, clear color and size and shape to its progeny.
Easily the most photographed daylily in my garden as the shape and presentation of this daylily is a delight to see. MACON MONEY is a pink bitone unusual form with lighter pink sepals displaying a pencil patterned halo. Sepals twist and curl creating gracefully detailed flowers. This is no "plain Jane" daylily and holds great potential for hybridizers with its bitone look and interesting sepal pattern in a pleasing color of clean, clear pink. Tall, straight 40" scapes with 3-way branching display the huge 9 1/2 to 10" blooms to perfection. Scapes average 16 buds and dole out uncrowded blooms over a long period starting midseason and blooming well into the late season. From a cross of GIRLS CLUB X ROSES FOR DALLAS it is proving to be pod difficult, but it has been a most used pollen producing intricate bitone seedlings with both cascade and crispate forms and patterning in pinks....a color neglected by those hybridizing for patterns and late season color. Clarity of color and hybridizing potential is outstanding.
MAKE IT SNAPPY is a 9" dark purple with a raspberry feathered watermark and a wide ivory to green throat. Shows blue tones on cool mornings. Tetraploid. (REDHEADED HUSSY X REDDY FREDDY) X NO BOYS ALLOWED
MAMA'S LITTLE PILLS comes from my small-flowered, tetraploid sculpted-cristate program and is a cross of PANIC IN PRESCHOOL X TET HEAVENLY ANGEL ICE. While it missed my goal of having sculpted cristate tissue, the genetics are "in there" and the plant so exceptional, I had to introduce this 7" diamond dusted peachy pink self with its strongly curled and twisting sepals with a splash of emerald on the backside! Blooms have a heavy, waxy, rain-proof substance. The scape height is 32" with ideal 4- and 5-way branching that averages 30 buds. I've recorded as many as 39 buds and it reblooms, too, so it produces a LOT of flowers in the early to midseason and beyond. It is easily fertile both ways with impeccable foliage and hardy, semi-evergreen plant habit offering lots of genetic potential for the hybridizer as well as a unique garden plant.
MARVELOUS MERRY GREY (Davisson-J 20) I became interested in hybridizing for gray daylilies after attending a camellia show and seeing the unique camellias being hybridized in shades of clear light gray and smoky charcoal gray enhanced by pink edges and veining, yellow edges and veining, ...oh my! Seems nobody shared my enthusiasm including one negative person from New Joisey (you KNOW who you are!) who said NOBODY would buy a daylily the color of concrete. We shall see who likes gray! When I met a young lady who inspired me named Merry Grey, I knew it was time to introduce my gray daylily! MERRY GREY is a cheerful 8" clear, light gray with a huge yellow watermark that shines in the mid to late season. Scapes are 36" with wonderful 5-way branching and a bud count averaging 25. It doles out bloom after bloom for a long period of time and is a season extender when many other daylilies are bloomed out. Excellent at clump strength, when I have recorded even better branching and bud counts. It is also fragrant with faultless foliage and hardy semi-evergreen plant habit. MERRY GREY is a tetraploid from a cross of PATTY IN PINSTRIPES X CAROLINA COOL DOWN and is fertile both ways.
MAUVELOUS DAHLING (Davisson 14) is huge 9 1/2 to 10" spatulate diploid from FORSYTH FLYING DRAGON X CABBAGE BUTTERFLY (a popular patterned Goldner unregistered cultivar). MAUVELOUS DAHLING is a complicated patterned mauve bitone with an extra wide chartreuse throat, a purple band, and ivory midribs on the petals. Scapes are 32" with 3 way branching, 16 buds. Being mauve, diploid and frankly not fitting my hybridizing goals, I once sold a double fan on the Lily Auction and the person purchasing it insisted it should be registered... so here it is. I have to admit, it does make a showy clump that can't be missed because of the big green throat and it makes HUGE seedpods containing enormous numbers of seeds so it's a seed seller's dream! If you are working with big green throats, this should be fun to work with. Easily pod and pollen fertile. Hardy semievergreen foliage.
MAYOR OF HALLADAY is a late blooming 8" lavender with a chalky ivory watermark that turns cream peach under certain weather conditions. Registered as a large flower rather than an unusual form, it sometimes has pinched petals and twisting, quilled sepals giving it an unusual and interesting shape. Scapes are 40 inches with 5-way branching, 28 buds. It is a hardy, semi-evergreen with flawless foliage from a cross of a seedling (CURT'S GIFT X CONFESSIONS OF A HEMAHOLIC) X Steve Todd's remarkable VICTORIA JOSEPHINE. MAYOR OF HALLADAY represents a step forward in bringing a lighter lavender into the late season as well as easy fertility both ways. MAYOR OF HALLADAY is producing exciting, reblooming, fertile seedlings with watermarks.
MEAN GREEN (Davisson 08) is a 9" apricot unusual form with a wide chartreuse throat. Tall, sturdy 43" scapes have 4-way branching, 22 buds. Sev, fragrant, mid to late season, and easily fertile both ways. From a Dr. Fred Knocke seedling X OSTERIZED. Winner of the 2017 Carolina Best Clump award, an AHS Honorable Mention award, and an AHS Award of Merit. 2023 President’s Cup award for the best clump and the Ned Roberts Award for the best spider or UF seen at a national convention. 2024 Lenington All-American Award
